Now in its thirteenth year, the Kia Apprenticeship programme continues to grow from strength to strength, offering Kia’s 191 dealerships the opportunity to expand their staffing capacity as well as offering younger people experience and expertise in the automotive industry.

With the Government focussing on higher education and the possible high costs of a university education an apprenticeship programme can help bridge the gap for those students who do not want to take the university route and prefer to gain employment skills as well as achieving accredited qualifications at the same time.

With 95 per cent of the Kia dealer network having at least one apprentice there are currently over 230 apprentices within the Kia family. Whilst employed by individual dealerships the Kia Apprenticeship programme is also supported by the Kia Academy in Nottingham where four courses are run with the apprentices learning hands-on skills that they can then take back and apply at work.

Ranging in length from two to three years, the apprenticeship programme offers courses such as light vehicle technician, service advisor, parts advisor and a combined service and parts role. All four programmes offer formal qualifications as well as providing opportunities to build knowledge and confidence. Extensive product training, working alongside qualified Kia technicians, carrying out diagnostics and learning all the skills of customer service ensure each candidate is set for a career in the motor industry.
